About CIS

The Centre for Information Security (CIS) is the School of EEE's focal point of research in information security. It provides research activities between schools, universities, industries and government. Our research focuses on the following three areas, that is: (1) Data Hiding and Information Forensics, (2) Biometrics, (3) Surveillance System.

Objectives

Information Security is a multidisciplinary field which utilises mathematics, computer science, engineering and associated technologies to solve the insecurity of networks and computer system, illegal copying of documents/multi-media and insecurity of electronic transactions via the Internet, etc. Due to the recent advancement in techniques of attacking many computer network systems, and the insecurity of wireless communications, research in information security is of the utmost importance. The Centre for Information Security (CIS) is established to have a multi-disciplinary research addressing the major security issues in their technical and its applications contexts.

Goals

  • Create an interactive environment among the divisions for research in information security which includes technology and other emerging fields.
  • Establish collaboration with industries and government to carry out research in information security in order to sharpen our research in solving practical problems.
