Biometric and Watermarking Enabled Secure Mobile Media
Project Introduction
Mobile devices have been used intensively in our daily life, e.g. image/video capturing, email access, internet surf, or even financial transaction. All these impose security concerns on mobile device, e.g.
-
Mobile media is easy to download and distribute. Biometrics and watermarking are efficient ways to control media download and distribution.
-
Digital media is easy to be tampered and easy to be reproduced. Watermarking and biometrics are effective way to trace and detect tampering.
-
The objective of the project is to provide a complete solution to secure mobile device access, secure media download and payment, and secure media consumption and super-distribution. For a detailed introduction on this project, please refer to MobileMediaJiangXD.pdf.
The project is funded by A*STAR, starts on 2 May, 2007 and ends on 1 Aug, 2010.
Major Achievements
The major achievements of the project is summarized as below:
-
-
Fingerprint Verification System on mobile Device- A complete fingerprint verification system has been built up on mobile device - O2 XDA Flame.
-
Advanced Mobile Security Toolkit - An Advanced Mobile Security Toolkit is built, which includes fingerprint verification system, face verification system and fusion system of these two.
-
Graphic Password - An interactive and secure user authentication scheme for mobile device based on graphic passwords is proposed.
-
Cancelable Biometric - A cancelable biometric template protection technique to protect the privacy of the biometric data in the mobile phone is proposed.
-
Watermarking - Two watermarking schemes for image for access control of the media are proposed.
-
2-D Barcode - An algorithm for barcode localization, segmentation, distortion correction, normalization and binarization is proposed.
Project Demo
Several demo systems are built on mobile device, based on the face verification system and finger-print verification system:
-
Mobile Access Control through Face: A demo to simulate the mobile access control through face
-
Mobile Access Control through Multi-modal Biometrics: A demo to simulate mobile access control through multi-modal biometric, i.e. face and fingerprint.
-
Personalized Media Consumption: Encrypt the downloaded media files with user's biometric template so that only the specific user can consume the media files.
-
DataLocker: A demo to simulate that files or folders are secured through biometrics.
The video recordings for the above-mentioned demos are shown below:
